Several new screenings have been added, including The Big Johnson, which tells the story of queer punk icon Dean Johnson. Following the film, nightlife mogul Mario Diaz and filmmaker Lola Rocknrolla will lead a discussion about the film and its themes.
Furthermore, there will be screenings of Happy Clothes: A Film About Patricia Field, which highlights the renowned Sex and the City costume designer. The comedy Things Like This will also be featured, followed by a conversation with writer-director and star Max Talisman. Additionally, the Los Angeles premiere of the U.K. film Unicorns, starring Ben Hardy and Jason Patel, will kick off with Remi Gabriel’s short Barbie Boy.
Lastly, two free events are set to occur at Amoeba Music: The power-pop group L.A. Exes will perform and sign their album Get Some, and a Pride weekend kickoff will showcase Long Beach-based DJs wonderfulbryan and speakandspel, spinning LGBT classics.
