Clyde Chorus, a vibrant three-day multi-venue music celebration commemorating Glasgow’s 850th anniversary and its status as a UNESCO City of Music, has unveiled a lineup of exciting fringe events scheduled for next week, running from Thursday, May 29 to Saturday, May 31, 2025.
The festivities kick off on Thursday, May 29, with a lively riverside procession, inviting everyone to take part in a cheerful march along the Clyde. The event begins at 4:45 PM, departing from Millennium Square at Pacific Quay (situated between the BBC and Glasgow Science Centre), featuring dynamic performances by local dance troupes Indepen-dance and YDance before the procession officially starts at 5 PM.
Guided by the Lord Provost and accompanied by the evocative music of the Govan Community Pipe Band and the Glasgow Skye Association Pipe Band, the procession will cross Bell’s Bridge, concluding at the Crowne Plaza. This free event is open to all, warmly inviting both residents and visitors to join in celebrating the city’s significant milestone.
On Saturday, May 31, the focus shifts to Govan, where numerous community choirs will converge to perform at a specially designated outdoor stage in the Precinct/Square Area at Greenwall Street/Govan Cross. Taking place from noon until 6 PM, this free event promises an afternoon filled with joyful harmonies as choirs from across Glasgow unite to showcase the beauty of collective singing.
Later that evening, Glasgow Science Centre’s IMAX will feature a unique performance by Sonica, Cryptic’s biennial festival dedicated to top-tier audiovisual art and sound, presenting UAXUCTUM—a live audiovisual showcase by Glasgow-based visual artist and composer Konx-om-Pax.
The performance, starting at 7:30 PM, blends experimental sound with captivating generative visuals, drawing inspiration from modular synth pioneer Morton Subotnick and modern classical legend Krzysztof Penderecki. These freshly announced Fringe Events complement an already extensive Clyde Chorus lineup, which includes a variety of performances from grassroots gigs to orchestral showcases, family-oriented events, electronic acts, and genre-blending collaborations. Noteworthy highlights include Nina Nesbitt at the Pearce Institute, Lucia & The Best Boys at The Savings Bank, and a special evening dedicated to Celtic Connections.
Additionally, audiences can enjoy a tea dance featuring the Lou Hickey Band, a showcase highlighting emerging talent from Glasgow’s music colleges at SWG3, and performances in partnership with Glasgow Mela, Glasgow Jazz Festival, Ando Glaso Collective, and Glasgow Gaelic Secondary School.
