The final concert of Black Sabbath and Ozzy Osbourne, titled ‘Back to the Beginning’, will take place at Birmingham’s Villa Park on July 5 and will be livestreamed worldwide.

Earlier this year, it was revealed that the legendary metal group would reunite with their original lineup of Osbourne, guitarist Iommi, bassist Geezer Butler, and drummer Bill Ward. This marks their first live performance together in twenty years and serves as the band’s final show.
They will be joined by Metallica, Slayer, Pantera, Gojira, Billy Corgan of Smashing Pumpkins, Slash and Duff McKagan of Guns N’ Roses, Alice In Chains, members of Limp Bizkit and KoRn, along with Tom Morello from Rage Against The Machine, who will also act as the concert’s musical director.
It’s now confirmed that ‘Back to the Beginning’ will be livestreamed globally. The event will be available on a pay-per-view basis through the Back to the Beginning website, where tickets for the livestream are currently on sale.
The livestream will start at 3 PM BST on July 5, and those who purchase tickets will have access to the full concert footage for an additional 48 hours afterward.
In February, Sharon Osbourne and Tony Iommi spoke with NME about what to expect from the final show.
“You can’t say goodbye,” stated Ozzy’s wife and manager. “Look at what they’ve created – it’s a vast and remarkable body of work that will live on. As long as that exists, it’s never truly goodbye. It’s eternal.”
Sharon continued discussing the show format: “It begins at noon, featuring one icon performing alongside another, playing a Sabbath song and one or two of their own. You’ll witness collaborations you never thought possible. Tom Morello will perform with Tool’s drummer Danny Carey, along with Billy Corgan – they’re all from Chicago, contributing their part.”
“Then you’ll see Slash and Duff [McKagan] alongside whoever they choose to collaborate with. David Draiman [of Disturbed] will sing, and Jonathan [Davis] from KoRn may join forces with [Red Hot Chili Peppers’] Chad Smith or any number of artists! Alice In Chains will also perform as their band.”
In an interview with The Guardian, Ozzy Osbourne discussed health concerns, the structure of the “final show”, and emphasized that full sets from either Sabbath or his solo band won’t be included – revealing he aims to “do his best,” though he “might be sitting down.”
“We’ll only play a couple of songs each. I don’t want anyone feeling ‘ripped off’ because it’s merely a sample,” he explained. “You’ll hear a few tracks from both Ozzy and Sabbath.”
He elaborated on why this will be his final live performance due to health reasons. “I wish I could say ‘never say never’, but after the last six years… it’s time,” he noted. “I spent over 50 years on the road, and I’ve become accustomed to not packing my bags and boarding a bus again.”
“I don’t engage in the rock star lifestyle anymore. I’m more of a homebody now. I never go out, avoid bars, and don’t drink. So what is there for me outside?” he added. “It’s time I dedicate moments to my grandkids; I don’t want to pass away in a hotel room. I wish to spend my life with my family.”
