Indie-rock legends Superchunk are returning with fresh music. Their 13th studio album, Songs in the Key of Yikes, will be released on August 22 through Merge, following 2022’s Wild Loneliness. To celebrate, Superchunk has unveiled their new track “Is It Making You Feel Something”, and you can listen to it below. Keep scrolling for their upcoming tour dates.
“This track addresses the challenge of trusting your instincts in the often self-doubting process of creating music and lyrics,” commented band leader Mac McCaughan. “It poses the valid question of ‘who needs this and what purpose does it serve?’ while also encouraging you not to set the artistic bar so high that you never begin. ‘Is it making you feel something?’ That’s a great starting point.”
In addition to “Is It Making You Feel Something,” Songs in the Key of Yikes will feature previously released tracks “Everybody Dies” and “Bruised Lung.” Alongside McCaughan, the new album also includes bassist Laura Ballance, guitarist Jim Wilbur, and drummer Laura King, with guest contributions from Rosali Middleman, Bella Quinlan, Quivers’ Holly Thomas, and touring bassist Betsy Wright.
