Big Thief has revealed their upcoming album. Double Infinity marks the band’s sixth studio album, following 2022’s Dragon New Warm Mountain I Believe In You. Set for release on September 5 via 4AD, this record features a variety of collaborators, including Alena Spanger, Jon Nellen from Ginla, Mikel Patrick Avery of the Natural Information Society, and Laraaji. Check out the lead single “Incomprehensible” below.
Big Thief, now a trio after bassist Max Oleartchik’s exit, recorded Double Infinity live over three weeks at Power Station in New York, with long-time collaborator Dom Monks overseeing production, engineering, and mixing. After the album drops, Big Thief will commence their Somersault Slide 360 Tour across North America.
Since 2022, all three band members have pursued solo endeavors. Adrianne Lenker released Bright Future in 2024 and the live album Live at Revolution Hall; Buck Meek launched Haunted Mountain in 2023; while James Krivchenia’s Performing Belief was released last month. In February, the band dropped an EP of previously unheard material to aid relief efforts for the California wildfires.
