Why not just turn every listening experience into a game of “guess who”? Everything else feels so monotonous that it might be worth giving this a try. Isn’t that why people tune into the Masked Singer? I haven’t seen the show, but I did catch the latest video from the most recent masked mystery band, President. Their new track is titled “In the Name of the Father,” and you can check it out below.
Rumor has it that this British rock group is led by Charlie Simpson from Busted and Fightstar. Though it’s just speculation, some information lends it credibility: the single was released through King Of Terrors/ADA, and King Of Terrors Limited has an employee named Charles Robert Simpson.
[Additionally, Simpson has performed while wearing a mask, which fits perfectly with the British version of The Masked Singer.]
A press release heralding the single describes it as “a raw meditation on existential dread and the inevitability of death, referencing the ‘King Of Terrors.’” I think they’ve hit the nail on the head with that one.
President shared their thoughts on the matter:
“Something is awakening. A growing hum, a ripple through the underground community. We reached out. You responded. Your curiosity, your inquiries, your dialogues… We’ve seen it all.
“Here, we make our inaugural declaration. ‘In The Name Of The Father.’ This is just the beginning. This is your PRESIDENT. We’ll be back soon.
“Godspeed.”
President is scheduled to perform at this year’s Download Fest on June 15.
