Last night at the Chateau Marmont, an atmosphere filled with affection surrounded Miley Cyrus as she unveiled her album Something Beautiful to an intimate gathering of around 100 fans. This heartwarming moment was highlighted when a couple got engaged right in front of a stunned Cyrus after she concluded her performance of “End of the World.”
“Go get a room, put it on my bill,” Cyrus exclaimed, her jaw dropped as the couple embraced and the crowd erupted in cheers.
The evening, hosted by TikTok, was perfectly suited for such a touching moment, with fans specially selected by Cyrus’s team on the platform experiencing the entirety of Something Beautiful before Cyrus delighted attendees with a 45-minute performance.
While mainly consisting of devoted fans, the crowd also featured a few friends, including Anya Taylor-Joy. Guests began arriving at the Chateau at 6 p.m., expecting just a sneak peek of the album before its official release this Friday. By 7 p.m., the lively chatter in the room briefly quieted as everyone anticipated what would happen next, only to erupt once more in cheers when Cyrus stepped up front with her band.
“You like your style, and you love mine,” Cyrus playfully remarked, dressed in a dazzling silver old Hollywood-style gown as she opened with the album track “More to Lose.” Following that, she performed her latest single “Easy Lover” and then delivered a powerful rendition of last year’s hit “Flowers,” expressing her desire for all the songs on her upcoming album to resonate with listeners like this one has.
Cyrus, accompanied by pianist Michal Pollack, drummer Maxx Morando, and guitarist Jonathan Rado, felt relaxed and at ease among her fans, sharing anecdotes between songs about growing up together and how her fans have remained loyal through the ups and downs of her musical and personal journey since her teen idol days as Hannah Montana almost two decades ago.
“We really did grow up together, that’s why it’s so emotional for all of us; we’ve shared this journey,” Cyrus reflected. “We start to outgrow ourselves, gaining and leaving things behind. I’ve never wanted that to be you. I’ve always hoped you would come along on my personal journey, and I truly appreciate when you do.”
Discussing her evolution and the unique connection with her fans, she transitioned into an impromptu rendition of “The Climb,” humorously claiming she “wasn’t going to perform” it until fans encouraged her. She concluded her set with “End of the World.”
Throughout her performance, Cyrus shared insights about creating Something Beautiful, which will also feature an accompanying film, during the past few years of the Endless Summer Vacation era. “I wasn’t on vacation; I was making the next album,” she joked.
“The next time you’re spamming the comments, just remember I’m busy in my bikini,” she quipped.
Cyrus explained the concept behind Something Beautiful, telling the audience it’s about embracing difficult experiences, even the painful ones we wish to discard, and cherishing them as gifts that will serve a purpose in our lives later on.
As the Something Beautiful era approaches, Cyrus hinted at more music to come before wrapping up the night with “End of the World.”
“My next album is going to be incredibly experimental, so enjoy that,” she said, with the crowd cheering her on. “Something Beautiful is just the appetizer.”
