Sir Rod Stewart is set to receive a Lifetime Achievement Award at the 2025 American Music Awards, marking a significant moment in his illustrious career.
The 80-year-old legend will also perform live, making his first AMA appearance since 2004, when he famously sang “What a Wonderful World” from his Grammy-winning album, Stardust: The Great American Songbook, Volume III.
Stewart will join a stellar lineup of performers over 50 at this year’s event, including host Jennifer Lopez, 55, Gwen Stefani, 55, Janet Jackson, 59, and Gloria Estefan, 67.
This year’s AMAs also feature rising stars such as Benson Boone, 22, Reneé Rapp, 25, Lainey Wilson, 33, and Blake Shelton, 48.

Scheduled to “kick off summer,” the 51st American Music Awards will broadcast live from the Fontainebleau Las Vegas on Monday, May 26.
The festivities start at 8pm ET/5pm PT, airing on CBS and streaming on Paramount+ in the US.
Stewart, who co-hosted the AMAs back in 1989 with Anita Baker, Debbie Gibson, and Kenny Rogers, has a long history of receiving major accolades.
His accolades include the Brit Award for Outstanding Contribution to Music (1993), the Ivor Novello Lifetime Achievement Award (1999), and his inductions into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame—first as a solo artist in 1994 and again with Faces in 2012.

Looking ahead, Stewart is set to launch the North American segment of his One Last Time world tour, ranked among the Top 20 Global Concert Tours of 2024.
The American Music Awards, known as the largest fan-voted music awards show globally, has announced this year’s top nominees.
Kendrick Lamar leads with 10 nominations, followed by Post Malone with eight, and Billie Eilish, Chappell Roan, and Shaboozey with seven each.
Nominees are based on Billboard chart metrics, including sales, streaming, airplay, and tour statistics, measured from March 22, 2024, to March 20, 2025.
