Laufey, the Grammy-winning artist, has revealed her upcoming album A Matter of Time, set to release on August 22nd through Vingolf Recordings and AWAL. To build excitement, she has shared her newest single, “Tough Luck,” which is available for streaming below.
A Matter of Time marks Laufey’s third studio album, following 2023’s Bewitched. The project features production from her regular collaborator Spencer Stewart and Aaron Dessner, a member of The National known for his work on numerous pop records recently, including for Taylor Swift. The album is available for pre-order now.
“People expect a pretty façade of girly clothes, fantastical stories, and romantic music,” Laufey stated. “This time, I wanted to explore the most flawed aspects of myself and confront them in the mirror.”
“Tough Luck,” which narrates a relationship that has gone awry, is the second release from the album, following her debut of “Silver Lining” at Coachella last month. Laufey mentioned she aimed to “uncover a more aggressive side of myself,” which is reflected in her intense lyrics directed at a past lover.
