Next week, Iron Maiden will kick off their Run For Your Lives World Tour. This extensive series of performances commemorates 50 years since the band formed, taking fans back to their roots with a setlist filled with iconic hits that defined their journey.
More than a million tickets have already been sold, but just a heads-up from the legendary rockers—they want you to immerse yourself fully in the experience. Ahead of the tour, band manager Rod Smallwood shared that they urge fans to enjoy the shows as if it were the late 80s—without cell phones.
“We really want fans to enjoy the shows first-hand, rather than through their small screens. The prevalence of phone usage significantly lessens the enjoyment, especially for the band looking out at rows of devices, as well as for fellow concertgoers. The energy and engagement from our fans truly make these events special, but the obsession with phones has become overly distracting, particularly for the band. I hope fans recognize this and will exercise restraint by limiting their phone camera use out of respect for the band and their fellow attendees.
“We would love for you to be ‘in the moment’ and actively engaged to savor each and every one of these classic songs as they were originally intended. This show is not just a celebration of our music; it also showcases our years of artistry, the character of Eddie, and the myriad worlds of Maiden that we have crafted for you.
“So please respect the band, honor your fellow fans, and make the most of your time by singing your hearts out, rather than focusing on your phones! It’s really not too much to ask, is it?”
