Nation of Language has found a new home with a record label. The Brooklyn-based trio, consisting of Ian Richard Devaney, Aidan Noell, and Alex MacKay, has signed with Sub Pop and has released their debut single under the renowned Seattle indie label. The track “Inept Apollo” is paired with a music video directed by John MacKay. Check it out below and look for a brief appearance of the Sub Pop logo.
“It serves as a tribute to creative endeavors, encapsulating the experience of being an artist in an urban environment,” Devaney remarked about MacKay’s clip in a press statement. “The video evokes the feeling of wandering through an old Brooklyn warehouse filled with rehearsal spaces and studios, where each room is inhabited by artists seeking to express themselves and grasp their role in the world.”
Following their support for Death Cab for Cutie during the Seattle and Chicago legs of their Plans 20th Anniversary Tour, Nation of Language will kick off a major headlining tour across North America, the U.K., and Europe. The tour will run from August 21 to November 28, featuring a three-night engagement at Warsaw in Brooklyn, New York. Scroll down to view all of the band’s scheduled 2025 dates.
