Al Jardine of The Beach Boys has unveiled his latest single, ‘My Plane Leaves Tomorrow (Au Revoir)’, featuring vocals from Neil Young – listen below.

The singer and guitarist, who co-founded the iconic California band with Brian, Carl, and Dennis Wilson in 1961, released his new EP ‘Islands In The Sun’ on Friday (May 30). This marks his first release since his debut full-length solo album ‘A Postcard From California’, which was released in 2010.
Included in the EP is ‘My Plane Leaves Tomorrow (Au Revoir)’, a song that originated during the recording sessions for ‘A Postcard From California’, featuring Jardine collaborating with Young. Young’s former bandmates Stephen Stills and the late David Crosby also participated in these sessions.
Beginning with a snippet from a BBC news report, this melodic piece showcases many of the signature elements of Jardine’s work with The Beach Boys, including harmonized vocals and soft instrumental support. Listen here:
The track also features a trumpet contribution from Flea of Red Hot Chili Peppers, who also played bass on ‘A Postcard From California’.
Additionally, Jardine will take Brian Wilson’s solo band on tour this summer to promote the new release. Known as the Pet Sounds Band, they will perform a series of shows across the US in July, August, and September. You can find any remaining tickets here.

Meanwhile, The Beach Boys will perform one outdoor show in the UK this summer, at Englefield House in Berkshire on July 20. This marks their only UK appearance for 2025, part of their ‘The Sounds Of The Summer’ tour. David Essex and Lulu will also join the lineup, and any remaining tickets can be found here.
The current lineup of The Beach Boys does not include Brian Wilson, who retired from touring in 2022 and has since been placed under a court conservatorship due to a “major neurocognitive disorder”.
As for Neil Young, he is slated to headline Glastonbury this summer and has been performing a range of deep cuts at recent concerts, including his first live rendition of ‘My Boy’ in over forty years.
