Young Sheldon star Mckenna Grace has delivered a “hauntingly beautiful” version of an emotional Taylor Swift song that has left fans amazed.
The 18-year-old recently shared her cover of the Eras Tour icon’s “Nothing New,” one of the vault tracks from her rerecorded edition of Red. The song reflects the anxieties of a young woman navigating the age- and appearance-focused entertainment industry, highlighting the challenges Swift encountered as a teenager in the limelight.
This same track was also covered by the artist Role Model—his rendition received mixed feedback from Swifties, who questioned, “what does a man know about” this? However, Grace’s rendition received widespread acclaim from fans.
“Uh oh we have a double threat over here 😌,” one admirer exclaimed, while another anticipated her role in a much-awaited—currently postponed—live-action Disney remake.
“She will play Rapunzel, mark my words,” they asserted.
“Oh wow, that’s genuinely a hauntingly beautiful cover,” another Swiftie admitted, while a newcomer to Grace’s talent remarked, “beautiful voice, I loved it 😍.”
Many were not familiar with the former child star, with one person asking, “Who is this diva?” and another declaring, “I might have to stan,” after hearing the cover.
On the other hand, those who have seen her in numerous favorite shows and films over the years, from Once Upon a Time’s Young Emma to Amazon’s Troop Zero, joked, “imagine not knowing her.”
Fans of the emerging artist encouraged the unfamiliar to “check out her music too,” stressing, “she’s really talented 😁.”
“Her own music is great as well!” another fan concurred. “Y’all should give it a listen.”
Grace’s debut album, Bittersweet 16, was released in 2023. She also has several singles and an Autumn Leaves EP to her name.
