Cardi B will be honored with ASCAP’s Voice of the Culture Award at a private event in Los Angeles next month, as reported by Complex. The announcement was made by ASCAP Chairman Paul Williams in a recent press release.
“Cardi B has made an unforgettable impact on the hip-hop culture by pushing and redefining boundaries for women,” Williams stated. “Having shattered numerous obstacles with her bold authenticity and talent, she keeps using her voice to uplift and inspire others, a true testament to her significant influence. We are honored to present Cardi B with this year’s ASCAP Voice of the Culture Award.”
This isn’t the first accolade ASCAP has given Cardi B. She has previously received two Rhythm & Soul Songwriter of the Year awards, eight ASCAP Pop Music Awards, and 23 Rhythm & Soul Music Awards.
Cardi B’s New Album
The win of the Voice of the Culture Award comes as Cardi B prepares for the launch of her highly anticipated second album. She recently shared insights on what fans can look forward to during an interview with Billboard, describing it as “messy.”
“I almost want to reveal the title because it’s what the album is about,” Cardi shared. “I feel like my album is messy. She’s a messy queen. I believe it’s going to be unexpected and different from what’s currently out there. It will include elements people expect from me alongside many surprises […] I’ve felt heartache, and now I’m experiencing love again.”
Regarding the release date, Cardi B expressed her frustrations about further delays on Instagram Live last week. “Right now, it’s really not my fault,” she noted, as reported by The Jasmine Brand. “Well, it’s kind of my fault, but not entirely… I’m trying to coordinate everything simultaneously. This bundling stuff is frustrating, I won’t lie. It’s annoying.”
