On June 4 KST, the girl group ablume unveiled a ‘Bossa Ver.‘ live clip for “Cupid“, which was originally released by FIFTY FIFTY in 2023.
In the live performance, Sio, Saena, and Aran demonstrated their melodic vocals and flawless harmony by the poolside, transforming “Cupid” into a summer anthem.
Previously, Sio, Saena, and Aran became embroiled in a lawsuit concerning their contract with debut agency ATTRAKT. During this legal battle, FIFTY FIFTY’s production team The Givers faced allegations of trying to “poach” the girl group. While the conflict between ATTRAKT, The Givers, and the three members remains unsolved, FIFTY FIFTY re-debuted in September 2024 with original member Keena and four new members. Similarly, Sio, Saena, and Aran successfully re-debuted as ablume in May of this year.
Remarkably, ablume re-debuted roughly a day after the Seoul Central District Court dismissed ATTRAKT’s lawsuit regarding intellectual property rights against The Givers on May 8 KST. The court’s initial ruling stated that The Givers holds exclusive rights to use the song “Cupid” commercially as the legally recognized creator, effectively denying FIFTY FIFTY any claims to the song. ATTRAKT has since declared its intention to appeal this decision.
In response to these events, ablume made a daring move on June 4 by “reclaiming” the song originally performed under the name FIFTY FIFTY. You can check out ablume’s ‘Bossa’ version of “Cupid” above.
