Miley Cyrus is celebrating Chappell Roan and Sabrina Carpenter by giving them their “Flowers.”
The artist, who has won three Grammy Awards, expressed her admiration for the two pop stars during an interview on The Zane Lowe Show. Cyrus shared that she is a “big fan” of both Roan and Carpenter, praising their impressive Grammy performances earlier this year.
“I thought both Sabrina and Chappell were outstanding at the Grammys this year; it was incredibly professional singing,” she commented. “I’m just big fans, and I wholeheartedly support those girls.”
Cyrus continued to endorse their Grammy performances, noting the intense pressure of live shows and recognizing “the courage it takes,” as she understands how nerves can affect a performer’s ability to shine on stage.
“I can imagine they were probably feeling heart palpitations due to the pressure, yet they absolutely nailed it,” Cyrus remarked. “And Sabrina at SNL 50 simply blew me away.”
After Roan’s rapid ascent to fame last year, Cyrus reached out to support the “Good Luck, Babe!” singer when she requested her fans to show her more respect.
“I wish people would be kinder to her,” Cyrus expressed. “Entering this industry while grappling with social media can’t be easy. It wasn’t a part of my journey, and I don’t even have access to my Instagram password anymore.”
In another part of the interview, Cyrus revealed that winning a Grammy for the song “Flowers” felt like “a band-aid on a broken heart” during the 2024 awards ceremony.
“I believe part of me needed to hold a trophy, to feel like I had achieved something truly significant,” she admitted. “I can’t pinpoint exactly why, but I needed that tangible reminder of victory. That’s why I attended the Grammys; it was really about healing.”
She also mentioned that her journey to sobriety has “completely transformed my life,” adding, “I need it; it’s what I live for.” Cyrus and Zowe revisited their 2020 interview, where she revealed she had “fallen off” her sobriety after earlier attempting to quit drinking that same year.
“I realize I needed to stumble one more time. I had to. This path was essential for me; otherwise, I wouldn’t be here today,” she reflected during the Wednesday conversation. “There were challenging moments since our last meeting that I’m not proud of—definitely not my finest hours, nor my best work. But all those experiences led me to write ‘Flowers,’ which served as a key to unlocking my healing process. It has been incredibly restorative for me.”
In April, Cyrus released “End of the World,” the lead single from her upcoming ninth studio album, Something Beautiful, set to drop on May 30.
