Richard Marx has presented Paul Stanley of Kiss with the classic album ‘Whispering Jack’ by John Farnham.
Marx runs a YouTube channel titled ‘Stories To Tell’, where he engages in discussions with notable friends, including Paul Stanley, Kenny Loggins, and Rick Springfield.
“When I began these shows, I wanted to offer each guest a gift, and I thought … vinyl,” Richard mentions in the video.
Paul Stanley is also an avid admirer of John Farnham. “John Farnham, unfortunately, has never received the recognition he deserves in America. He is an astonishing singer. In Australia, he is considered a legend,” he remarked.
Richard shares a memory of inviting John to perform at the Greek Theatre in Los Angeles, where they collaborated on John’s rendition of The Beatles’ ‘Help’.
“In the 90s, I performed a few nights at the Greek Theatre,” Richard recounted. “John happened to be in town for something. We were spending time together, having written some songs. He was in LA and was set to come to my show at The Greek. I asked him if he would join me on stage. He replied, ‘Nobody knows me here’. I told him, ‘That’s exactly why I want you to’.
“I brought him on stage in the middle of my show, to a packed audience at The Greek, who had no idea who he was, and he received a standing ovation.”
Check out the moment Richard passes the Farnham album to Stanley:
Richard co-wrote four tracks on John’s 1993 album ‘Then Again’: ‘Talent for Fame’, ‘Treated This Way’, ‘The Reason Why’, and ‘So Long In Love’. Additionally, he played piano on ‘The Reason Why’.
Farnham’s rendition of ‘Help’ can be found on his 1980 album ‘Uncovered’.
