SM Entertainment is set to acquire a substantial stake in Great M Entertainment, the label behind K-Pop boy group 82MAJOR. This collaboration marks the initial phase of SM Entertainment’s plan to implement a “multi-label system” as part of its ‘SM 3.0’ initiative, which seeks to create a wide network of independent production hubs and labels for the long-term growth and management of intellectual property.
Founded in March 2020 by Kim Young Sun, a former executive at FNC Entertainment, Great M Entertainment debuted 82MAJOR in October 2023. The boy group quickly attracted worldwide attention with their distinctive style and concept. Recently, they released their third mini album ‘Silence Syndrome‘ in April, and are preparing to begin their 2025 solo concert ’82 Syndrome’ in Seoul from June 6-8. After the Seoul performance, 82MAJOR will embark on their inaugural North American tour throughout June and July.
Looking ahead, SM Entertainment plans to invest in various domestic and international labels to further diversify and expand its music offerings.
