Nick Cave has released a compilation of his favorite films – check out the list below.

The frontman of the Bad Seeds shared a list of 10 films in the latest post on his fan Q&A site, Red Hand Files.
“Just for fun, I have a few questions about movies that I would love to hear your answers to,” wrote Danielle from Houston, Texas.
Cave revealed that his all-time favorite film is Wake In Fright – the 1971 Australian New Wave film directed by Ted Kotcheff, featuring actors such as Donald Pleasence, Gary Bond, and Chips Rafferty.
When asked about his “favorite movie from [his] childhood,” Cave chose the 1939 romantic drama The Hunchback Of Notre Dame. He mentioned that the film that brings him to tears is Disney’s Bambi (1942), while the one that makes him laugh is the satirical black comedy Living In Oblivion (1995).
Danielle inquired about the most recent movie he watched, and he replied: “Arthur Jafa’s short film, Love Is The Message, The Message Is Death (2016), which was recently displayed at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Chicago.”
Additionally, Cave admitted to enjoying the feature film that he feels “embarrassed to say” he likes: Richard Curtis’ holiday romantic comedy Love Actually (2003) – featuring Hugh Grant, Colin Firth, Emma Thompson, and others.
In other entries, the singer-songwriter revealed the movie he dislikes, one he “can recite by heart,” his favorite documentary, and his wife Susie’s favorite film. Look at the selections below.

This follows Cave’s statement in 2022 that the Marilyn Monroe biopic Blonde is his all-time favorite film. Recently, he took to his Red Hand Files platform to praise a “glorious” album he had been enjoying.
He also shared his favorite podcast in 2024, emphasizing: “It shows us that history is extraordinarily complicated.” Previously, he curated a playlist of his “15 best songs” for new fans and shared a list of his 50 favorite books.
In other news, Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds performed ‘Hollywood’ for the first time ever during a recent show at Cruel World 2025 as part of their ‘Wild God’ tour. This sprawling 14-minute track concludes the band’s 2019 album ‘Ghosteen’.
Cave is slated to begin a European solo summer tour next month, starting with three concerts in Zurich, Switzerland.
Meanwhile, the Bad Seeds’ side project Grinderman will release their entire discography on eco-friendly vinyl and CD this summer.
