LION & MAN, a collaboration between vocalist Mandy Lion (WORLD WAR III, WICKED ALLIANCE) and producer/guitarist Ron Mancuso (BEGGARS & THIEVES, RED DRAGON CARTEL), has unveiled a new single titled “Red Rain”.
“Red Rain” draws inspiration from Lion‘s upcoming autobiographical book and graphic novel.
The video was both produced and directed by Gary Orona, while the songwriting credits go to Lion and Mancuso.
“Red Rain” was produced, recorded, and mixed by Mancuso at Studio77 in Las Vegas, Nevada, with Kane Churko handling the mastering.
The track showcases Lion on vocals, Mancuso on guitar, Dan McNay on bass, Lez Warner on drums, Greg Fox on keyboards, and Zach Throne providing backing vocals.
Mandy is recognized for his contributions to WORLD WAR III, which also featured Jimmy Bain (RAINBOW, DIO), Vinny Appice (BLACK SABBATH, DIO), and Tracy G. (DIO). The band released multiple videos and toured extensively, often headlining or supporting acts like IRON MAIDEN and ANTHRAX. Eventually, Appice was succeeded by James Kottak (SCORPIONS, KINGDOM COME) and Mikkey Dee (SCORPIONS, KING DIAMOND, MOTÖRHEAD).
Mancuso serves as the guitarist and songwriter for BEGGARS & THIEVES and is also the COO of the Bootlegger Italian Bistro, a well-known establishment in Las Vegas for many years. Additionally, he owns a recording studio, a live concert venue, and composes jingles and music for the Fox TV network amongst other projects. Ronnie has toured with Jake E. Lee‘s RED DRAGON CARTEL and collaborated with former KISS guitarist Ace Frehley.
Over 20 years ago, Mancuso took charge as CEO of the Bootlegger, relocating his New York-based recording studio Studio77 to the restaurant’s vicinity.
During a 2017 interview with All Rock Music & All Music Bands: National & Worldwide, Lion shared his experience with WORLD WAR III and what it was like opening for IRON MAIDEN. He expressed: “Just try to picture what a 17-year-old fan of BLACK SABBATH and DIO felt when members of his favorite bands auditioned for his band. It was almost comical pretending to audition Jimmy Bain and Vinny Appice. The whole scenario was absurd. Naturally, Vinny and Jimmy secured the gig. Who else could take it from them?”
He went on: “Opening for IRON MAIDEN was everything you would expect. We went from performing in theaters to stadiums. The fans were extremely gracious, and the band treated us exceptionally well. I’m certain this was partly due to IRON MAIDEN‘s history as fans of RAINBOW and BLACK SABBATH. There was an inherent respect for my bandmates’ legacy.”
