Nearly two years after the release of Part 2 of The Kinks‘ “career-defining trilogy,” The Journey – Part 3 is slated for vinyl and CD release. This concluding chapterencompasses their RCA/Arista years from 1977 to 198, and has once again been curated by the band.
The first disc from both the 2LP vinyl and 2CD collections features 11 iconic tracks from this period, such as ‘Come Dancing’, ‘Destroyer’, ‘Living On A Thin Line’, and more. These tracks have been remastered from the original quarter-inch production master tapes.
The second disc includes previously unheard recordings found in the Konk archive, featuring the band’s Royal Albert Hall show from July 11, 1993. “As far as performances go, it was a peak achievement for The Kinks,” noted Dave Davies regarding the show. This audio was sourced from what is referred to as “a simple desk mix.”
Both formats include track-by-track commentary by the band and new sleeve notes from Phil Alexander. The Journey – Part 3 will be released on July 11, 2025, through BMG.
